Course Description

This instructor-led course provides employees with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely perform Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) and flagging operations.

Designed primarily for short-duration and short-term roadway work, participants learn how to plan, set up, maintain, adjust, and remove temporary traffic control zones using current California standards and accepted industry best practices. Topics include work zone fundamentals, traffic control devices, Typical Applications (TAs), traffic control zone components, taper lengths, flagger responsibilities, proper signaling techniques, flagging stations, high-visibility apparel, work zone safety, hazard recognition, and effective communication to help protect workers, motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

Designed for employees who perform, supervise, or work within or adjacent to temporary traffic control zones, this course emphasizes practical application through real-world examples, instructor-led discussion, interactive exercises, and hands-on flagging demonstrations to help participants confidently apply safe, effective traffic control and flagging practices in the field.
